We’ve got our hands on a Land Rover Discovery, and it’s going up against a Volkswagen Touareg! Both of these cars have been modded, although the types of mods they’ve had are vastly different. So let’s see what’s changed… Starting with the Discovery, it’s powered by a 3-litre turbo V6 diesel engine which has been tuned slightly, and as a result, it produces 306hp and 600Nm of torque. It comes packed with a load of off-road tech, including low-range driving modes and central locking diffs. However, it’s had a whole load of extras added, from a tent box to the roof coupled with a fridge in the boot! As a result this tips the scales at an amazing 3,400kg! Next up it’s the Touareg. It’s packing a tuned 5-litre V10 diesel under the bonnet which produces an almighty 352hp and 1000Nm! It’s also had a number of mods from a 50mm height lift through to the addition of huge off-road tyres, and it’s a whole lot lighter than the Disco, coming in at 2,500kg. As for the M4, well that’s stock, so it arrives with a 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six that can put down 510hp and 650Nm. They’re both RWD, and the 430d is around 200kg lighter than the M4. Well, we’re about to find out! So let’s see how the two compare. Starting with the AMG, it’s powered by a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 which can deliver 585hp and 850Nm of torque. It’s also built on a ladder frame chassis with 3 lockable diffs, and it’s pretty heavy, tipping the scales at around 2,500kg. In comparison, the Skoda Yeti comes in a whole lot lighter, at around 1,500kg! But it’s also way down on power, with its tuned 2-litre TDI Diesel engine producing 181hp and 407Nm. However, it’s also been lifted and had some underfloor support added to it, so it’s definitely prepared to go off-road! So how will this one play out - will it be an easy win for the G63? I love the way this looks, inside and out. The whole vehicle now looks and even smell's like new but man it drove like s**t. A common problem with the Audi S5 4.2 V8 is that it gets carbon build up on the valves and inlet causing power loss and lumpy idling.
