Diesel Race Car Owners - Darkside needs YOU!
We are preparing to enter the Birkett Six-Hour Relay Race on October 26th 2019 at the Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit.
The race was featured on BBCs Top Gear and Extra Gear on 10 Mar 2019 and is available on iPlayer if you want to check it out!
This is a Team Relay Race, the object being to complete as many laps as possible using only the cars and drivers entered in the team. Cars may go out any number of times and in any order.
We are looking for a couple of Drivers with VAG or BMW Diesel Race Cars to join the team. Our plan is to race with our Seat Ibiza TDI which is currently in Class B of the MSV Trackday Championship and Trackday Trophy running 175whp per Ton (~220bhp in a 1280kg Car).
We are also going to be joined by Dylan in his Ibiza TDI which runs in the same class as us in the TDT.
We are also planning to use our E90 330D but this would mean all the cars would be in a higher engine class, as they are split between under and over 2000cc.
To keep things simple all cars would be of similar performance.
Entry is £1600 per team. We would be looking for a contribution towards this fee and the costs of our support team from the entrants. How much would depend on the size of the time we end up with, as it can be 4, 5 or 6 drivers and cars.
Entry packs for the 2019 Birkett Relay Race will be available in June / July so we will need to finalise our team by then.
So anyone that is interested in joining us in October, please Contact Us with the vehicle details and some info on your racing experience.
Drivers
All drivers must be members of the 750 Motor Club, membership is available for just £25 per year. Membership can be completed online at www.750mc.co.uk
Drivers require a National A Race Licence or National B with 6 Signatures on upgrade card, so any novices this year will be eligible as long as they have completed 6 races by 26th October.
Vehicles
Any non-historic closed-wheel car is eligible for the Birkett Relay race (subject to meeting MSA safety standards - Roll Cage, Fire Extinguisher etc)
All cars must comply with MSA Tyre 1A/1B/1C and vehicle regulations.
Cars must be silenced in accordance with Section J 5.17 (as long as it is silenced to most UK Trackday regulations it will be fine - Page 151)
