Wheel Spacers - What to know

Wheel Spacers

Wheel spacers are unquestionably one of the simplest and cheapest modifications to enhance your vehicle's appearance. By reducing the offset of your wheels and spacing them further from the centre of the car, spacers can minimise arch gaps and give your vehicle a more aggressive look.

Not just for looks.

Wheel spacers are also perfect for widening the track width of your vehicle. On FWD vehicles, widening the track on the front axle can improve turn-in capabilities and reduce understeer, whereas on RWD vehicles, increasing the rear track width can enhance grip and stability at the back of the car.

What to know:

Shims vs Hub-Centric

Hub-centric wheel spacers are designed to fit precisely around and extended your vehicle's hub protrusion, ensuring the weight of the car is supported by the hub rather than the studs or bolts.
Shims are typically used for smaller spacers <5mm, these slot over the existing hub protrusion so the weight of the car is still supported by the factory hub.

PCD

PCD (Pitch Circle Diameter), refers to the bolt pattern specific to each vehicle. Many vehicles share PCDs, allowing one spacer type to fit various makes and models. Common PCDs are often found amongst manufacturers within the same group, such as VAG, where most VW, Audi, Seat, and Skoda models share a 5x100 or 5x112 PCD. However, although the PCD is the same some vehicles can have different centre bores…

Centre Bore

The Centre Bore is the outer diameter of the hub. This measurement determines the inner diameter of the spacer, which should fit snugly over your car’s hub. If the fit is incorrect, the spacer might not sit properly on the hub or might be too large, causing excessive movement and potentially leading to vibrations felt through the steering wheel.

Centre Bore Protrusion

If your vehicles hub centre bore protrudes more than the hub-centric spacer width, they will not fit and will not sit flush with the face of the brake disc / hub. We recommend measuring this before choosing / ordering your spacer width.
