Tyre Testing - New Yokohama Advan AD09
In the peak of last summer, we were asked by the guys at Yokohama UK to help them test the all new ADVAN Neova® AD09, their latest road legal track tyre.
At the time, the tested set were the only four AD09 tyres in the UK and due to Yokohama's strict marketing policy, we were unable to post anything about it on our social media.
Fast forward 6 months, and the tyres are now available to purchase and our testing video can go live (video at the bottom of this blog).
So, before you buy them, what's our verdict?

Before we start, we'd just like to confirm this is not sponsored in anyway by Yokohama, and purely based on our experience having tested and raced on many tyres.
For the last few years we have sworn by Yokohama's A052, which has been our tyre of choice for racing and track days. The dry and wet performance of these have always been on point, with the only real down side being the slightly higher price tag than some of it's competitors. For most of those not looking to compete and just have fun on track days, they're probably going to be a little out of budget, which is why Yokohama needed to come up with a new, competitively priced, 'Track Day' tyre. Welcome the new ADVAN Neova® AD09.
During our test we put these head to head with their predecessor the AD08-RS and here are the results:
As you can see, there is a very noticeable difference between the two! To add to this, Ryan's comments about the AD09 were all positive, saying the tyres performance were a lot closer to that of the A052 than expected.
The figures speak for themselves, but watch the video for a more in depth comparison of the two.
We are intending to test these again, both in the wet and also head to head with the A052. Watch this space for further information.
The AD09 is now approved for Racing in the MSUK Blue Book - List 1B, as well as EU Approved for Road and Track Days.

UK Stock is currently limited for a small number of the tyre sizes in the range, but more will be available throughout the year. Please do not email asking when your size will be in stock as we do not have that information. We are aware that there are loads more sizes listed on the Yokohama EU and Worldwide sites, but the sizes we have listed are the only ones in UK stock at this time.
