Powergate
What is a Powergate?
The Powergate is a portable and touchscreen Personal OBD Programmer which will allow you to program your vehicles ECU in complete autonomy, using our preloaded modified maps.Powergate features:
-Allows anyone to remap their own car from anywhere and in some cases no internet connection is required. No matter where you are on the globe, we can help.
-It stores your original file and up to 5 different modified versions so you can switch between them or return your car to stock at any time for whatever reason.
-It can double as a diagnostic tool as in many cases it can read and clear diagnostic trouble codes.
-Online support allows for expandability to keep you and your vehicle up to date with the latest in performance technology from Darkside Developments.
-Safer than tuning box solutions as live sensor data is never altered. All temperature and pressure controls remain in effect. Diagnostics and live data acquisition remain fully functional.
-These are complete remapping solutions. Drawing on our many years in the industry and utilising our own in-house chassis dynamometer we have worked tirelessly to put the best solutions available in the palm of your hand.
-These can be delivered both blank and pre-configured for specific applications.
Whether your powergate has been delivered blank or preconfigured, you’ll want to start by plugging it into the OBD connector. This will usually be located under the dash on the drivers side.
The menu will then load:
To flash your new Darkside tuning file you’ll need to select tuning:
You then need to select your application by highlighting it and then selecting the right arrow icon:
Turn the ignition on and press ok:
After communicating with the ECU it should ask if you want to read the ECU. Press Yes:
It should then save your original ECU information:
If your device is preconfigured then you can skip the next couple of steps.
If your device is not preconfigured it should return you to the main menu once this operation is complete.
After you’ve downloaded and installed the Darkside Flasher software (Attached to your invoice once purchased) you can plug the USB cable into your computer and use the Darkside Flasher software to save your original ECU file onto your computer so that it can then be submitted for modification.
From the Darkside Flasher software click on “download data”:
Then save it in a safe place on your computer. This file will then have to be submitted to Darkside Developments for modification:
When you receive your updated software be sure to save it with your original read. Click on “Upload Data” to select it.
It will then upload to the device and notify you upon completion. When plugging the device back into the car, you can click on tuning once again and it will resume about 5 screens ahead where it asks if you would like to “continue with the writing of the file”.
It should then begin to build the tuning file database for your car:
Press OK:
It will then save the data:
When completed press ok:
It will then check for existing tuning files assuming your device is preconfigured:
It will then ask if you would like to continue writing a file to the ECU. Assuming you would, press yes:
It should then give you a selection of files to flash. Highlight the selection that you want to program and press the right arrow:
It will then go through a few screens as it creates the new tuning file:
This process will take several minutes. Exact times depend largely on the Vehicle/ECU type. When it is completed it will tell you to unplug the powergate from the OBD port and turn off the ignition.
Your car should now be tuned!
If at all possible we recommend running some data logs to ensure that everything is working as it should.
