These solid bushings are a direct Replacement / Upgrade for the stock rubber bushings found in the shifter bracket on all in all the VW 02A, 02J, 02M, & 02Q Gearboxes
Over time the stock factory bushings will wear, this is when shifts can become less precise or even cause miss shifts. Miss shifts can not only cost you a race but by not fully engaging gears in the transmission, teeth can be stripped off the gears.
This upgrade will result in a more solid gearshift and reduce the chances of miss shifts.
